Acronis True Image will not detect WD HDD

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I recently purchased a 2TB WD Red Plus NAS Hard, WD20EFZX.  I ran Acronis True Image Version 2019 I believe and under the "Clone Disk" tool it showed a lock and would not proceed.  I then proceeded to upgrade to Version 2021, build 39230.  The True Image would still not recognize the drive.  I then plugged in a 1TB drive, WD10EFRX, and Acronis True Image Version 2021 recognizes it.

I still am running Windows 7 and I read the maximum drive space is 2TB.

Is this a bad drive or is there something else that can be done?  I read that there is some exe file that Acronis can cause it to be detected.

Any thoughts?

Thanks a lot.

Sincerely,

Rick

Rick, welcome to these public User Forums.

See KB 2201: Support for OEM Versions of Acronis Products which applies to all OEM versions of ATI supplied with hardware purchases.

I would suspect that the connection method being used for the WD drive is the reason why it is not being recognised but this is a limitation imposed by the OEM vendor of these drives not by Acronis.

Rick please advise if you are using ATI 2019 or Acronis for WD. The latest build of Acronis for WD is more recent than any build of ATI 2019.

Hi Steve and Ian

Thanks.  Thanks for the reply.  I'm using the same USB to ATA (now I forget what it is) for both drives and I am using Acronis True Image, 2021 build 39230.   The drives are nearly identical as far as I can tell except for size.  I did read somewhere that the 2.0TB has to be formatted for Windows to see it.  I haven't given that  try.  I may just stick with the 1 TB.

Thanks again.

Best regards,

Rick
