cloning to Sandisk SSD Plus

Thread needs solution

True image recognises SSD device for backups but tells me I only have one disk when trying to clone my laptop hard drive to the SSD. Any ideas as to why the SSD is not recognised ?

How do you have the SSD connected to the laptop?  If you are trying this from within the Windows installed application stop!

You need to consult the documentation on using the clone tool and make sure you have a good understanding of the procedure before attempting cloning.  It is recommended that cloning be performed using the bootable Recovery Media rather than from the Windows app.  For laptops the new SSD should be installed in the machine prior to the clone operation.

Consult the documentation for details.

This video tutorial may help...  Fully agree with Enchantec, start the clone with your bootable media and not from in Windows.  Before you do though, move the new disk to where the original is and put the original in an external drive bay.  Then clone from the external to the new internal.  Upon completion, and BEFORE booting into Windows, disconnect the original drive .... having 2 drives with the same hardware ID (signature) can cause issues... like rendering the OS unbootable.  Personally, I would take a full disk backup image of the original drive first... just to be on the safe side.  It's also recommended as a failsafe in the Acronis documentation.

Many thanks to both of you for your help. Laptop has now been sucessfully updated to SSD.
