True Image 2016 : Strange behavior of ASZ , no acces anymore !
Hello,
I have a strange behavior of ASZ since today. A scheduled backup (2 times a month)
to ASZ failed. No reason was displayed. The ASZ is visible and I can access the old
backups. The attempt to create a new backup onto ASZ fails ay well. I get
0 bytes of 0 bytes available.
The ASZ administrator shows a red dot with a white cross.
One can not change the size or delete the ASZ or parts of it.
I'm using WIN8.1 (64).
What can I do to make it work again, please ?
What can be the cause of the behavior ?

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the answer. There is no folder whith log files as you mentied.
But I took a system report. Should the log be in anywhere?
But I can not imagine that space run out . The PC is almost
new and as far as I remember there are just 3 times a backup,
I selected just to keep 6 backups.
And in case of no space, shouldn't TI tell 0 Byte of 334,5 GByte available?
What is the meaning of the red dot with white cross ?
How can I delete ASZ space if the ASZ manager does not work ?

It does look like you're out of space. The screen shot shows 0 bytes free. If you are using full backups and backing up your C: and D: drive, that's roughly 100GB of data. Each backup, with normal compression is probably close to 70GB so it would not take too long to fill up 330GB of space on your secure zone.
I have not used secure zone, but I'm assuming it is managed from within Acronis as well.

Hello KTY, I am surprised that you say you cannot find the Logs folder, are you able to see the parent C:\ProgramData folder? If not, then you will need to change the folder options (Control Panel > File Explorer Options or from within Windows Explorer) to Show hidden files, folders, and drives.
An alternative would be to change the Notification options for your task that is trying to backup to the ASZ to Show notification message on insufficient free disk space plus also use the Additional Notification Settings to Add full log to the notification and then set up to send yourself an email notification.
If all this fails, then there are a couple of approaches that you may wish to consider.
- Uninstall ATIH 2016, then run the Acronis Cleanup Tool and then perform a clean re-install of ATIH 2016 again.
- Leave ATIH 2016 as is, but assuming that you still cannot use the options given in the Manage Acronis Secure Zone utility to remove the ASZ, then use Computer Management (Disk Management) to remove the volume for the ASZ from within Windows. Right-click on 'This PC' then choose Manage to open Computer Management, then select Disk Management. Right-click on the ASZ volume and select to Delete Volume. You will need to use the Extend Volume option on an adjacent volume to allocate the freed ASZ volume space to that volume as the Manage ASZ utility cannot select unallocated partition space but has to take this from free space within an existing volume.

KTY, you can boot from rescue media. There is an ASZ manager in the utilities section. It may work, even if the Windows ASC manager doesn't.

I have fixed the problem.
It really seems ASZ was full. I delete the ASZ volume with Windows drive manager.
I made a backup onto an external drive before, and the size was really huge. It seems
also the ASZ is including the backup again and again, so it was getting quickly very big.
Now ASZ is back and working again for the moment.
Thanks to all for the different hints.
Is there a way to inform the user on screen (big pop up window, etc.) about start
of a hidden backup? User with less experiences with PC could possible kill a running
backup by simply turn PC off.
