Generate System Report from Help

Thread needs solution

Having installed Acronis True Image 2017 I run Generate system report from Help but nothing is happening. The same function works when run from Tools and Utilities. How to solve this?

Bojan, is there a particular reason why you are running the Generate system report function?  This is mainly used by Acronis Support to help diagnose any problems being reported, though we do sometimes look at these in the forums, but it is not intended to be used as a user report tool.

When clicking on this option in Help, you should see a small pop-up window with the text: Generating system report, please wait... and two option buttons, one for Cancel, the second for Hide.

The two methods of invoking a system report should both give the same end result, which is a zip file stored in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\ folder.

 

Nothing is happening from Help. Report was generated when I run it from tools and utilities. When I press Generate system report from Help simply nothing is displayed and nothing is happening without any warning or error message so it is difficult to find what is going on. I tried this just for curiosity and now I am a bit dissapointed with this bug ...

Bojan, I have tested this from Help in the main ATIH 2017 GUI on two different systems, one running build 6116 (New Generation / Premium) and the other with build 8029 (Standard) and in both cases this worked fine for me.

On build 8029, I saw a quick pop-up message in the system tray area saying it was running, then I saw a pop-up in the middle of the screen as shown in the attached screen shot that ran through collecting the various information to be included.

I've never seen this issue either - I also have a system with each version of 2017 (NG 6116 and STD 8029) - works fine on both for me.  You should open a technical support case to have them verify the behavior on your system.

When I generate the system report from Help, it looks like nothing is happening but it really is. As a result of reading this thread I wondered why I did not have a progress window. I found that it was being displayed behind the ATI window. About a minute after starting the report, a page came up with details and the Save option.

Glad you got it solved!  Yeah, would be nice if there was a reference to all open windows in the taskbar so that it could easily be identifeid if it launches behind another one!  

Bobbo, I'm not the OP (Bojan). We'll have to wait until he wakes up in the morning to find out if his issue is solved.

I tried Acronis True Image 2017 New Generation and Generate system report works from Help menu.

I experienced this, too, with ATI 2017 build 8029.  Every time (well, both times) I've generated a system report I thought nothing was happening.  I don't recall that from earlier releases, but I haven't had to generate very many system reports.

Patrick, thanks for your input to this topic.  It would be nice if System Report was shown in a more obvious way at times, I have certainly clicked on it more than once on occasions when I didn't think anything had happened only to find that it was churning away under the 'covers', often hidden behind another window!

Luckily, when clicked twice we don't get two reports.  I think the processing starts over, though, so if you keep clicking you keep getting delayed.  I know that the first time I tried getting a report under ATI 2017 I didn't  get the report until I gave up.  :-)   (The second time I tried only twice.)
