Incremental backups don't restart after x versions
Here is my setup in A2018 (just updated):
Schedule:
Weekly/Tuesdays 11PM
Backup Scheme:
Method Incremental
Create a full version after every 5 incremental versions
Notifications:
Insufficient space < 1GB
Exclusions:
Various tmp files etc
Advanced:
Nothing specific, just defaults
The issue is that right now I have 1 Full version, and *14* incrementals. Why is it not starting over after the 5th one? I still have space for a few more, but beyond that, I don't want to have to kill any of those earlier ones in case I do need to restore, assuming all 14 would be part of a full restore?
This is not a new issue, btw, it's been happening pretty much all along, but I had been just killing all of the .tib files and starting over from scratch. Don't want to do that any more :)
What am I doing wrong?
TIA
Elaine

It was indeed an upgrade, I've had A for a number of years. So are you saying that if I go ahead and simply kill the current 15 backups? (16 now, I ran it again after the fail :) that does NOT reset the counter? Bummer :( It's been a LONG time since I originally installed it, I do have the s/n from the interface, is that all I need to reinstall?

Elaine, if your Backup Scheme is set to create a new Full backup after 5 Incrementals and this has not changed, then that is exactly what it should be doing! Given that it does not appear to be taking notice of your settings and obeying the rules, then making a clean install is probably the best way forward to get back to an obedient working application!
Activation can be done either by entering your ATI serial number - for an upgrade version you will be asked for both the serial for ATI 2018 and also the serial for the version you upgraded from. The alternative method is to sign in with your Acronis Account email address & password when given the option after doing the clean install - this will find all the serial information from your account without needing to enter this manually. This assumes that you have registered ATI 2018 and at least one earlier version of ATI to your Acronis Account. I have used the latter method for some time now and find it the easiest way.
