System Recover impossible: No Partition: 0x7 (NTFS,HPFS)
Hi there,
I am using Acronis True Image 2019 and doing complete system backups (full system images) on external HDD with validation after each backup run.
Some days ago windows 10 didnt boot anymore (error 0xc000000e on boot process). I tried to fix it with automatic repair and fixmbr and so - after many hours of investigation I gave up and decied to just recover the os drive.
To do so I downloaded to rescue media from acronis account and burned a CD to boot from.
I then tried to recover to last full backup. After selecting the backup to recover i get an overview of all the drives that have been backup up. There is a separate HDD for data - beside of it I can see "NTFS" - that ok.
But beside the system drive / partition there is instead of "ntfs" just "No Partition: 0x7 (NTFS,HPFS)"
So the structure of the filesystem seems to be damaged.
After recovering the whole disk drive and booting the PC from this recovered drive windows 10 doesnt boot.
Instead I geht the error message : "MBR Error 1".
Again I tried to fix it by booting from windows 10 installation disk, entered command line and entered commands like "bootrec.exe /fixmbr" etc. - but nothing helped.
I finally had to use an older backup. But i want to avoid this situation for recovers in the future.
I thought I was save because the backup finished without any error messages and validation already was fine.
But this doesnt seem a guarantee that I can recover this backup and get a working PC back.
How can I fix this error?
How can I prevent it in future?
Thx a lot!
Regards,
Markus
