Nonstop Backup Turns Off

Thread needs solution

After receiving your post I did what will be the third uninstall and reinstall since buying this software 34 days ago. I did get an error message "The cabinet file 'data1.cab' is corrupt and cannot be used." This had me search the forum about that. Did a check disk, nothing wrong. Tried the install again and no error message, it continued to install. After the install completed I set the Nonstop to start. It started, and paused immediately. Then another icon came on stating the backup was starting (different icon than the non stop circles) and immediately after that started and said 0%, it said it was complete. I went into the software, viewed the log which stated the nonstop backup was completed successfully and gave the location of the file. If I view hidden files using Windows Explorer I can see the file and it is current, today. However, once I shut down the computer and came back on the non stop won't even come on. I've gone into Services and everything is set to automatic and shows as started as it's supposed to be set. If I do nothing this is what happened last week, it never does a backup or update to the backup file and never comes on again. If I go into the software to hit the Start button next to the Nonstop backup in the MyBackup listing, nothing happens and the log states "Error occurred while opening the file. No such interface supported." If I go into the software and hit "Browse for Backup" the nonstop backup folder and file are hidden so then I hit "Search for Nonstop backup" button that is in that browse window and it just closes finding nothing. There is nothing in the software then that would allow me to recover or browse the backup file. I have to go through Windows Explorer, unhide the hidden files even to see the backup file. So how would I ever restore it?

If anyone can't tell, I'm thoroughly frustrated with this software.

Since my original post customer service support sent me an email and will try to help. I'm not holding my breath.
Thanks for your reply and help Frank D.

Linda,
You're welcome. I'm sorry you didn't get the same instant relief we did. But I'm glad to know you'll be getting help from customer service support.

Comments:
1. I (and my friend) didn't uninstall the program, we just reinstalled it over the existing version. This was enough to make it start working again.
2. You didn't specify where your backup is being saved to. In our cases, it's an external USB drive.

This is incredible, to read a post about an issue that is well over a year old and seemingly still unresolved.

I have just started to use the NSB function and while it appeared to have worked the first two times it is now a little over 4 hrs since the last nsb. Yet I created several new files 20 mins after the last NSB. I expected that NSB would notice the revised and new files and run soon after.

The NSB icon says it has started but the log of backups says the last NSB happened just over 4 hrs ago.

I'm using ATHI2012 build 7119 on a fast Win 7 Ult x64 self built system that works perfectly.

I cant rely on a "non stop" backup that hasn't updated for over 4hrs when there have been several documents and other files edited, added or deleted in that time.

Can Acronis support offer an suggestions?

Thanks.

I should have informed you folks that since updating to Acronis 2012, Nonstop Backup has been working fine. If If the 2011 and 2012 versions hadn't been available for practically nothing, I would either be limping along with 2010 or more likely using a competitor. Versions 2010 and 2011 never worked. Finally, so far, 2012 has been working well. Windows 7 64 Pro.

It looks to me like 2010 is probably always going to be a problem for a lot of users.

Board Room,

I'm unclear on whether you saying that NSB in 2012 on your Win7 system is working OK, or your Win 7 system is working OK but your NSB isn't?

If you look in the timeline folder has this been updated?

I doubt that 2010 will see any further updates considering it is no longer a current product and is over 3 years old.

I apologize for the confusion. I was just letting you know what my operating system is.

Nonstop Backup started working at Version 2012. Before that, it worked for a very short time in version 2010. It never worked at all in version 2011. Version 2012 is the one where it is finally working as it is supposed to.

Hope this clarifies things.

Hi Colin

Thanks for replying.

How come you're unclear? I dont mean to seem rude but the whole point of my post was that NSB hadnt done anything for over 4 hrs.

Like I said "I have just started to use the NSB function and while it appeared to have worked the first two times it is now a little over 4 hrs since the last nsb. "I'm using ATHI2012 build 7119 on a fast Win 7 Ult x64 self built system that works perfectly."

When I posted to the thread I was responding to it after I did a search for NSB issues  - I hadnt noticed that in the title of the thread it related to the 2010 version.

HI, I actually want to stop automatic backups and I do not know how to do that. could you advise.

thanks

Stuart,

When you say automatic backups, are you talking about Non Stop Backups?
