Product Installation Issues

- Accedi per poter commentare

Hello,
I'm using ATIH products since 2008. Last installed version ATIH2011 on Windows 7 Pro x64 was working to my satisfaction.
Now I bought on September 19th ATIH2012 Family Pack, Upgrade E 2 and ATIH2012 Plus Pack Family Edit 2 and tried to install over ATIH2011.
The installation stops with failure message:
"Beim Kopieren der Datei fltsrv_a64 ist ein Fehler aufgetreten. Datei kann nicht ins Zielverzeichnis kopiert werden."
That would be in English more or less like:
"There was an error when copying file fltsrv_a64. File cannot be copied into the destination directory."
Repeat bottom used to no avail. Abort bottom runs the installation rollback.
Tried to use the error log feature on the installation screen. To no useful avail. Automated reply from Acronis Customer Central:
"Ihre E-Mail wurde an eine unbekannte Adresse versendet und ist nicht beim Acronis Customer Central Team eingegangen."
i.e. "Your e-mail was sent to an unknown address and did not reach the Acronis Customer Central Team."
Now I tried as suggested http://www.acronis.de/support/, logged into my account and sent the problem encountered with attached AcronisTrueImage.msi.txt.zip file.
Not having received any response after a week, I tried the same procedure today on September 26th and had now finally a response with a case number assigned (Case 01300642).
But after having read the multiple problems reported on the forum, not only with installing ATIH2012 but also with serious performance issues after the installation, and considering the not really helpful responses from the moderator and other experienced people, I think I will stick with ATIH2011 and ask my vendor (edv-buchversand.de) for the refund of useless spent € 69.90

I wish I'd read this trail before attempting to upgrade.
Was ATIH2011 on Lenovo X61T - latest patches etc with W7 64 Professional (again, all latest patches). Trend Micro AV s/w.
ATIH11 has run fine for past year.
ATIH12 installation resulted in BSOD - ran W7RE bootrec and fixed. Reinstall resulted in same BSOD - again fixed with RE.
Reinstall again.... seemed to get 'most of the way - very slow (15min+) - then BSOD again. This time could boot into Safe mode - why bootrec not damaged this time I don't know....
Reboot and icons on desk but it doesn't work....
Did uninstall - seemed to conclude - but wouldnt install.....
Ran uninstall utility ...... and started reading this blog..... I won't now try re-install without some support as I'm losing too much time and worrying about losing data etc.
A disappointing situation for a 'simple' upgrade.....

I tried to installed demo version of Acronis 2012. When I enter the serial number from Acronis I received this message " The serial number is wrong ..." I tried two times, but is always the same thing.
Thanks for your help!!

IMHO it's not the old driver because I never had 2010 or any other version of ATI installed on this system and mine still rolled back. I had 2010 on another system which is why I was offered the upgrade.
They really need to get their sh** together on this one. a lot of people are frustrated. I moved to another solution almost immediately.

IMO it seems to be a permissions problem with something in their install program. The only way I got it to install was to create a new User Account and quickly follow up with the installation. Several postings point to that as a problem. Seems like they would put that in a FAQ.

Bonjour,

BCP2: C7BEEAA7
BCP3: 8C60F754
BCP4: 8C60F330
OS Version: 6_1_7601
Service Pack: 1_0

C:\Windows\Minidump\092111-60341-01.dmp
C:\Users\MOI\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-96237-0.sysdata.xml

Olisiko mitenkään mahdollista, että tällä foorumilla käytettäisiin kielenä englantia, kuten yleensä on (olipa itse ohjelmaan saatavissa käännöksiä muillekin kielille). Tahalllaan jätän englanninkielisen version tekemättä tästä viestistä.

@Yamaneko,
Congratulations (I think :) ) on being the first person to post in Finnish on this forum or is that Latvian? I'm hanging out for Esperanto.
@Alain,
Is this 2011 or 2012?
Did you have a Secure Zone installed with 2010?
Have you tried installing using 'Run As Admin' with the installer?
What is the STOP error code on the BSOD and what text message?
- Accedi per poter commentare

Yes, it was in Finnish, that demonstrates how non-English messages look a like ;) I hope we all could write in English here.
- Accedi per poter commentare

@ yamaneko;
If you prefer to be treated con in English. Okay.
stop : 0x000007B (0x80786B58, 0xC0000034, 0x0000000, 0x0000000)
vidir.sys -adress C5AFFAA7 base at C5AED000, datestamp 4e23ed15.
mais à chaque fois le message était différent.
Et je ne sais pas si c'est ce que vous demandez.
Mais j'ai trop perdu de temps pour faire de nouveaux essais maintenant.
Merci
Alain

Alain,
That is what i asked. :)
That error message is the new virtual disk driver causing a problem, possibly because of 2011 entries in registry.
1. If Windows BSOD's, try pressing F8 when Windows is booting and then you can select "Charge dernière bonne configuration connue
" this will get Windows booting again.
2. Uninstall TIH 2011, reboot, install 2012 using 'Run as Administrator' by righ clicking on the installer file.
3. Temporarily disable your firewall while installing.

A lot of people cant get it to install. If the install is rolling back, I would suggest waiting until a fix is posted.
Just my opinion for what its worth

After a lot of failures to install, I finally got my copy to install successfully
1) Run the Acronis clean-up tool to remove old copy/failed install remnants
2) Disable any antivirus, antispyware, firewall
3) Right Click on the ATIH2012 executable and select "Run As Administrator"
Once installed allow it to update itself , and then exit and reboot PC
re-enable Firewall, Antivirus, Antispyware
I suspect the installer has issues promoting itself to Administrator to install, so run it as administrator right from the start

I have tried to run the installed 2012 version three times and what eventually runs, after the "install was a success", is Vrsion 2011. The it tells me my trial has expired. So I uninstall, get the message that all is removed, then I run the DVD with the 2012 version and install ... then it all happens again.
I get the screen telling me it's installed, then I run it, then I see the2011 version
so what do I do next???
The machine is Win-7 64bit

Have you tried to use the Acronis clean-up tool to remove all traces of the old products, then installed from scratch ?
I had issues where it would not install and rolled back, cleaning up and disabling a/v, a/s, f/w then installing via "Run as Administrator" allowed me to install and run 2012 ok (I had upgraded from 2011, so when I clean installed i entered old and new keys into the installer)
Like you I am Windows 7 64-Bit (fully patched)

Good Day all,
Well, I must say That after much trials, tribulations, and travails I finally installed ATIH 2012 and it is running as well as my previous version.
After piecing together info from the Customer service team and clicking through the KB I believe that I condensed it down after much trial and error to the following:
ATIH 2012 clean install for Windows XP sp3:
1-Remove all Acronis products thru Control Panel Add and Remove prgrms.
Restart computer
2-Start menu run %TEMP% and delete all acronis files.
Restart Computer
3-Then Run "true image home clean up" tool.
Restart computer
4-Delete all Acronis Folders in start menu programs.and under
C-drive Programs folder.
Restart computer
5-check %TEMP% again and delete Acronis folders.
6-Run Free Crap Cleaner utility registry fixer and save prompted time stamped .reg files to desk top(in case you might need them later).
Restart computer
7-Defrag hard drive
8-Run check dsk Fix at Windows XP startup.
Reboot computer
9-Initiate ATIH2012 and use the Trial version key if an upgrade from a previous version.
10-After installation Reboot the computer whether or not the
program prompts you to do so.
11-Start ATIH2012 from Desktop Icon and with internet connection enter your serial code and your upgrade from code.
Reboot your computer.
12- Install your other Acronis programs at will.
This procedure worked well for me and I hope it will help you also.

If that program is under the "Tools" tab, the NO. I can not get past the opening screen telling me to buy the program I just bought, namely the 2012 version. Acronis is still populated in the Directory/folders. I tried all exe files there to no avail. I have already done an Install after running uninstall from Windows.
Where is the Tools program please

If v2011 runs and you've installed v2012 then obviously 2012 hasn't installed correctly.
Uninstall what you have including any Plus Packs (if installed), clear out the Windows temp folder (Windows button + r , type in %temp%) , try installing again - personally I'd also run the 2011 uninstall program but this will delete any 2011 tasks that you might have.
Make sure you reboot between the uninstall and installation.
To be on the safe side run the install using the right click 'Run as Admin' option, it is possible that your login is preventing something important being overwritten.

Good for you! :) But this should wake up Acronis: there is something screwed really bad on True Image installation. This is not install procedure of quality (or even normal) program. This is workaround to make badly broken installation working somehow. :(
I think that Acronis should immediately announce when updates are coming and inform customer on Acronis website that there is major problems with ATI 2012. For example when Norton has some problems with Ghost v15, they pulled it off temporarily and replaced with v14.

I have to agree with you about the installation of ATI 2012, all of these work-rounds can't be good for business. Someone needs to establish a foolproof installation method and post it as a "sticky" right up front in this forum. Then fix the installer program IMO.

I agree, ATIH2012 is a very poor release at this version, I logged a support call, and even after an hours assistance (via Remote control/WebEx) they could not get it installed
Only by sticking with it was I able to get it installed, I never had this issue with any prior versions of ATIH, or any other bit of software
My work around involved running the clean-up tool, disabling a/v protection etc, then installing via "Run As Administrator", not the ideal way to install
Given the amount of comments in this forum (and probably support tickets), Acronis really need to sort this issue out, and at least post a list of work-arounds people have.

I installed the 30-day trial version of TI Home 2012 on my Lenovo X220 with Windows 7 Pro, 64-bit. The installation seemed to go OK for most of the components, but the main program, True Image Home does not have an icon under All Programs/Acronis. It is the ONLY Acronis component without an icon. And, when I click on that link, the program does start, but only after the "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to your computer" message. What is going on?
I am also having problems with True Crypt, but will post that separately.

Marco,
Have you had an older version of True Image installed on your machine or Disk Director?
You say the installation rolled back, but from the image you've provided it looks as though part of it may have installed.
Do you have Admin permissions on your system?
Have you tried installing by right clicking on the 2012 installer file and selecting 'Run as Administrator'?
Have you tried temporarily disabling your firewall and AV program?
There should be an MSI log file from the attempted installation, you'll find it in your Windows user temp folder. To find it press the Windows Start button + r and then type in %temp% this will get you to the correct temp folder. Then find a folder that is of the date when you tried to install 2012, one of them will contain the 2012 installer files along with the MSI.log, this is a text file.
If after trying to install as an Administrator it still fails to register, post the MSI log file here, make sure you remove your serial number and your email address if it appears in the log file. Alternatively, you could raise a support case directly with Acronis if you are still within your 30 day support period from date of purchase.

Dear Colin,
Have you had an older version of True Image installed on your machine or Disk Director?
> No. I am planning to buy this product hence I am trying it first. This is my first attempt at installing the trial product.
You say the installation rolled back, but from the image you've provided it looks as though part of it may have installed.
> It has not been fully installed in any way. My "Perfect Uninstaller" does not register any Acronis product.
Do you have Admin permissions on your system?
> Yes. I am the Administrator, Owner, and the only User to my PC. There are two user profiles: Administrator and "Marco Hiirata" as Computer Administrator. Both have passwords set on them.
Have you tried installing by right clicking on the 2012 installer file and selecting 'Run as Administrator'?
> Yes. "Run as" Administrator produced this strange message: "Logon
failure: user account restriction. Possible reasons are blank passwords not allowed, logon hour restrictions, or a policy restriction has been enforced."
> Thus I proceeded normally as "Marco Hiirata" (Computer Administrator).
Have you tried temporarily disabling your firewall and AV program?
> Yes. However, I keep getting either one of these results:
a) the installation roll back or
b) cannot extract msi file.

Thank you and pardon me if I have overlooked anything. I have installed and uninstalled countless Windows-based products with no difficulty; however, this is the first time I have experienced this level of difficulty.
Looking forward for your advice.

I don't have time at this moment to look at your log file (will do that later today), but if you don't 'logon' to your system with a password, 2012 won't work properly, you might need to try installing for single user rather than all users.
The trial version also requires a serial number and it isn't a universal one.
Do you have any group policies enacted that might restrict installation?
You are entitled to prepurchase support from Acronis.

My attempt at installing TIH 2012 over TIH 2011 on sept. 5th failed too with a BSOD.Here's the story as reported to Acronis support (I have an open case there):
Decided to update from TIH 2011 to 2012.
During 2012 installation my computer blue-screened - first time ever (!) running Windows 7. System: Win 7 Ultimate x64 SP1 running on a Lenovo T500 with 4GB RAM.After rebooting from BSOD I notice an "Unknown device" in the device manager:
Device instance path: ROOT\ACRONISDEVICES\0001
Hardware IDs: root\vididr_bus
Config Flags: 00000040
CONFIGFLAG_FAILEDINSTALL
Intall date: time of the BSODNext attempted to uninstall TIH 2011 from control panel. On next reboot my system failed to start and Windows initiated an automatic repair which happily was successful. Repteated the uninstall, apparently successfully.
Tried AGAIN to install TIH 2012, and once again had a BSOD during installation.
After the failed install there are errors in the system event log about drivers failing to load, and I also notice an "Unknown device" in the device manager: hardware id=root\vididr_bus
I should also mention that I deactivated my AVAST antivirus while running the installation, just to be on the safe side.
Oh yes, the Acronis reporter tool I tried to run to provide info to support failed too (attached screenshot).
-------------------------------
To ensure that all traces of TIH have been removed before trying any fixes, I've run the cleanup utilities for both TIH2011 and 2012, but the registry still contains numerous references to the product, which is somewhat disconcerting.
For example,
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{975D1154-4003-40F9-850C-F92A99BFEE59}\InProcServer32
C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\TrueImageHome\x64\ti_managers_proxy_stub.dllHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{9E42900A-85F9-4E67-9778-575FBBA0A81C}
\InProcServer32
C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\TrueImageHome\x64\versions_page.dllHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{B8C1D1E5-8FD7-4F0F-B00F-792223DC8701}
\InProcServer32
C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\TrueImageHome\acronis_backup_cpl.dll(but the folder "C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\" is gone)
Also, there remains a reference to an Acronis filter driver
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
LowerFilters=vidsflt58
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\vidsflt58
ImagePath=system32\DRIVERS\vsflt58.sys
(the driver file is also present in the file system)This is the computer I use for work, so I'm reluctant to do much experimenting. The experience reminds of what it was like to install Microsoft service packs 10-15 years ago - bleeding edge - after a while you wised up and waited for release b, c or d of the SP, meanwhile letting the other Joes do the testing MS should have done in the first place.
After cleaning Acronis TIH 2012 with the official removal kit, I've noticed a ghost device called Acronis Virtual Disk Bus (unseen in device manager, but visible with a ! in "devices and printers -> your computer's name"). I have downloaded a small utility called devfilter and noticed that the storage devices have a lower filter called vidsflt58.
I've first delete the lowerfilters key (which only contained vidsflt58) and rebooted. Then I checked the devfilter tool again and verified that the lowerfilters entry no longer exists. Afterwards, I've gone to "DEvices and Printers" in control panel (win7x64) and clicked my own computers name, there I went into the Acronis item properties and uninstalled along with deletion of drivers. (on my initial attempt I uninstalled this before removing registry entries and went into BSOD leading to a system restore)
edit: attached the "Device Manager" and "Devices and Printers -> Computer's name double click" screenshots to show the difference

You guys who have characterized Acronis Support as useless have it right. After much messing around with support and escalating the problem, a nice fellow from India (of all places) helped me to get the product uninstalled - this was a year ago in Sept/Oct. I won't go into all the issues, but I did get my money back on time.
The reason for this post is to let you know that I documented everything that was wrong with the program, the installation and the uninstall software and the uninstall fix that I was walked through and the guy's name that walked me through it. I then emailed the review to management at Acronis.
You guys know the rest - like water off a duck's back.
Go figure.............

Installed TI Home Plus 2012 over TI Home Plus 2011 on a fully updated XP SP3 machine.
Installation and the following updates is ok, but using the program is a nightmare.
After starting the application, it just hangs for about a minute. And also on trying to use the program, it hangs frequently on many different actions.
The log says 'no windows libraries'. I thought this was a feature of Windows 7 and not of XP.
And how can I get rid of this info/introductory screen on startup of the program and see directly a useful screen with all possible options like save, restore, etc?
After reading all the other install problems here, I have not much hope of running TI Home Plus 2011 without problems.
And no I really dont want to mess with my system to try out all possible and impossible workarounds for days and nights.
TI is supposed to solve problems and not to create them!
Any serious statement from Acronis about this?
Update:
And now I even have the famous rescue image builder error (http://forum.acronis.com/forum/24229).
While Acronis slept......

The log stating 'no Windows libraries' is just information, that does not effect the running of 2012, so if you are having problems making an image it shouldn't be down to that, though I thought that warning message was going to be made 'intelligent' in the release version.
The opening delay is caused by mainly by the search for updates, if you switch off the auto update search you should find the delay is then momentary.
The tabs are 'sticky', so if you wish to always open on the Backup and Recovery tab, you just have to make sure you close 2012 with that tab active. If that doesn't work for you, then that needs to be looked into.
What specific actions does it hang on?

When you say you downloaded the MSI install file are you referring to the tih_2012.exe file?
Have you checked your Windows temporary folder and attempted to delete the contents?
As you haven't mentioned any specific error message associated with the rollback, have you apart from what I wrote above, rebooted between uninstalling WD and installing TIH 2012?
Did you try downloading the Acronis cleaner for 2012 and see if that solved your problem?
When you say you've had no response from support, did you receive a case number? If not, check your, and /or your ISP's spam box in case it has ended up there.
As you refuse to post the install log file here with serial number edited out, it is harder to pinpoint where your problem may lay, but you could also check that your firewall and virus checker aren't blocking the installation and you could try right clicking the installer .exe and running as Administrator.
Even though you've had the WD edition installed, WD will have made alterations to to TIH 2009 which makes some of th einternal program different to that offered directly by Acronis.

Colin, as much I appreciate your help for users here, I think True Image 2012 problems are out of users control and Acronis have to fix their badly broken product. So that way I understand that someone like randun see that it is pointless to post some logs and so on.

Hello Nick,
Thank you very much for bringing this up.
Unfortunately your original post was about another issue and since this thread deals with installation problems I deleted it. This way, Customers with installation issues can find help easier. I am sorry for any inconvenience.
However, you are more than welcome to post in the main forum section:

I have submitted your feedback to our Customer Listening System and if you need additional help please let me know.

My experience in other discussion groups is that a message posted to the wrong section is MOVED to the correct section by the moderator, not deleted.
I installed the trial version of Acronis Home 2012 on the recommendation of a friend. It did not install properly, will not work properly with Truecrypt, and I have received no response to messages related to these issues that have been posted in two different sections of this forum. Perhaps it would be useful if you focused on resolving issues rather than "posting purity."

Or you can initiate a charge-back with your credit card, which is exactly what I will do if I have to spend more than 5-10 minutes installing this thing. I don't have time 'requesting' anything from a company who sold me a faulty product.
However, I have not tried yet and have had no issues with other Acronis products. So wish me luck.
