Restore issue - Cannot see all backup versions in True Image console
Hi there,
I am trying to restore a file which was backed up last night. This is my procedure:
1) Open True Image 2014 and select 'Backup and Recovery' tab
2) Locate job and click 'Recover' on the backup job
3) A window is displayed with each backup job date across the bottom
Only a few dates are displayed, mostly from last year. It is not showing the full backup se (i.e., the backup was successful last night, but i'm not given the option to select this for restore)
My backup size is large (877GB, 86 versions)
I cannot open the backup file from the filesystem either - system just hangs.
Thanks in advance,
Ben.

Hi Grover,
Thanks for your reply, your instructions are very detailed and clear.
I tried manually adding the backup, but Acronis seems to hang for an hour or so and when it eventually comes back, the backup sets still aren't visible.
I couldn't see some of the options in my version of TI (2014) so assuming your documentation is based on an older version?
I tried opening the backup file from the filesystem, but the PC hangs (I have only left it go for an hour or so before rebooting).
Is there anything else i could try?
Kind regards,
Ben.

I also tried removing the task completely and manually readding the backup, but it still only shows the latest backup as Nov 28, 2013 and doesnt show last nights backup. Last nights backup was successful according to logs.

I am concerned about the 85 versions. Tell us more about the type backups. Are these all full type backups; or are these 1 full with 77 incremental, etc. Telll us more about the backup scheme.
With True Image turned off, use Windows Explorer and browse to the storage folder and file. Sort the files in date/time sequence.
Are all the files there and in sequence? Perhaps post a screen capture of what you are seeing.
What happens when you double click on that specific tib file. It should open for you to browse to your single data file you need for copying.

Backup type is incremental - 1 initial version and 77 incremental. Sorting by date/time, all backup versions are present.
When I turn off True Image and open the TIB file manually, I can eventually show the list of backup jobs, but cannot open the backup file (after 2 hours, explorer is still unresponsive). This particular backup set is 11Gb.

Using only Windows EXplorer, browse to 11GB file #65 and double click on that single fle.
The resulting window shoud enable you to keep clicking/browsing to the single file desired.
If you cannot do this, I would suggest you contact Acronis support Live Chat and see if they can help.
Acronis does help users with Recovery issues. Just specify it is a recovery issue as you are progressing thru the support screens.
Keep us posted on your results.
Stop using the old tast and creeate a new task allowing only a limited number of inc and a more frequent full.
Link 2 below, illustration 11-Inc insdie that link provides examples of how to set up the automatic cleanup mode.
Edit:
If the above is unsuccessful for you, try the same procedure by selecting one of the eariler backups. This will help you to understand the procedure.
Under the TrueImage restore procedure, when selecting BAckup #65, in order to work, the program requires that all prior 65 be present and non-corrupt and if restoring the entire inc file, it will first restore the full and each and every backup from 2-65 and that requiremen is a difficult one to achieve with 65 files.
I hope you will be successful and I am not encourged that 65 will be restorable especially if you cannot open it via the method above.
Link 3 below, item #5 offers a couple different methods to try to recover a single file.
