TI 2013 won't let me add more than 4 partitions

Thread needs solution

I'm trying to transfer the partitions of my 750gb hdd to a 500gb. The 750gb hard drive has 6 partitions with 5 being hidden (not idea why samsung felt the need for so many).

I followed the guide (http://forum.acronis.com/forum/29618) from GroverH that explains how to restore a backup to a smaller disk. Everything worked perfectly until I tried to add my fifth partition. Even though I still have plenty of space on the hard drive and IT considers that I have enough unallocated space, I cannot select the unallocated space, only some of my previous partitions.
Just to see if it was something was wrong with the fourth, I tried skipping it to install the fifth. I was able to install the fifth, but I could not install any other partitions after that, so it didn't work.

Anyone know what I could do or have heard of something like that?

Thanks.

If your target disk is MBR, then it has a four primary partition limit. To place more than 4 partitions on a MBR drive, you have to create 3 primary partitions and one extended partition. The extended partition can then be divided into several logical partitions.

If your source disk contains a preinstalled bootable system, then it is most likely formatted in the GUID Partition Table (GPT) which is capable of handling up to 128 primary partitions. Use the Add New Disk function in True Image to initialize the 500GB drive as GPT. Then try restoring your partitions again. If it needs to be a bootable, the disk has to be connected to a SATA port on the PC during the restore. If it is connected by a USB enclosure during the restore, it will not boot.

Thanks Joey. My target disk was MBR and when I changed it to GPT, I was able to add every partition.
Unfortunately, something didn't work properly. I added all my partitions in the same order as they are on the original disk. Although I was unable to set the partition type as my disk was GPT, everything seemed ok. My active partition received its letter. Once all my partitions were added, I added MBR/Track0 "partition" and checked the “Recover Disk Signature”. Once everything was done, I tried to boot the computer, but it didn't work. I guess I did something wrong or there's something I should have done that I didn't, but I have no idea what.
