True Image 11 Home abort during installation

Thread needs solution

Hello
today I try to install True Image 11 Home on completely new installed XP Prof SP3 PC with Mainboard Asrock K8Upgrade-NF (NVIDIA nForce3 250 chipset).
All drivers (NVIDIA Chipset, Sound, Ethernet, Graphic, BIOS) are installed by latest version from Asrock Homepage. Also the NVIDIA ATA/SATA driver diskette will be used during installation of XP.

When I install TI first all seem to be OK. Installation starts wuthout problems.
At the time where the progrss bar is the second time near 100% the computer reboot without any messages.
Afte

r the boot I get the message that a new device was found named Acronis Backup Explorer and few seconds later I get a abort message form windows for a service. But I could not found which service.
When I go step by step through the hardware installation assistant I get the message that the file timntr_2k.sys is not found. There is only a timntr.sys into Windows\System32\Drivers directory.
Copy them and rename the copy will solve the problem but then I get a second message for timfiltr.sys (hope it is the right name; I don´t write them down). This will found into a Lastgood directory.
Copy them back to drivers directoy finish the hardware installation sucessfull.
But after them TI doesn´t work. Double click on the program icon ends with a runtime error without any information.
Second try to install abort at the same position.
Abort message at start of Windows for the service are still happen.

TI could not deinstall because there are no entry into the software menu from the control panel and no uninstallation icon into the program menu.
Restart installation don´t bring up deinstallation possibility. Allways the installer starts for new installation.
First time I setup the system completely new for a second time again. Last try now I rollback XP at the system restore point before trying to install TI.

From a problem into the past I had a tool call AcronisReport.exe. I try to make a system report by this tool. But I get the same problems. After choosen the report path for the file an click proceed the computer reborts immediately and after restart of windows I get the abort message for a service.

What is the reason?
How can I solve the problem?

I need TI because before I reinstall the computer there was a older version of TI on the system (8, 9 or 10; I don´t know exactly). There are several tib files form the old backups and I would connect them as a device so I can get some data form this backups.
We don´t made any other backup because in the past I don´t have such trouble with TI.

Who can help me?

Thanks

Hello Thomas,

We are really sorry for the delay with the response and for the difficulties you've experienced with Acronis software.

To resolve your issue I may recommend you to re-install Acronis True image 11 Home the following way:

Uninstall the software completely by the means of Acronis Clean Up Utility:

Two additional components are required to use the utility:

DevCon - command-line utility that is an alternative to the Windows Device Manager. DevCon is included in Windows Vista by default. Read more in Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 311272.

Msizap.exe - command-line utility performs cleanup operations on the Windows Installer configuration management information. Msizap.exe is a part of Windows Installer CleanUp Utility.

If there is no DevCon in the system, you can download it from Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 311272, and place it in Windows\system32. Or you can just run Acronis Clean Up Utility, and will offer to remove Acronis True Image Backup Archive Explorer manually. See Removing Acronis Backup Archive Explorer for instructions on how to do it.

If there is no Msizap.exe, then Acronis Clean Up Utility will offer to download Windows Installer CleanUp Utility from the Microsoft web-site. Please download and install this utility.

On the selection screen you will be prompted to enter "y" to remove all Acronis products, "t" to remove Acronis True Image Home only or "n" to exit, please choose "y" to delete all Acronis software.

You will be asked to terminate the Windows Explorer process during cleanup process, since this is necessary to remove the tishell.dll and timounter.dll Acronis files, which interact with explorer.exe.

In the end you will be asked to reboot the machine to complete the removal process.

Then finally install the software from scratch once again.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance.

Thank you.

Hello there Thomas ?
I know it has been a while since you posted, but is there a chance you can send a reply with an attachment of the file timntr_2k.sys ?

I am repairing XP Pro which aborts because that Acronis file is missing.
I am an old time user of Acronis 8.0, but the module didn't change, I don't think !
Problem is, I downloaded the product over the internet, and lost the file. And Acronis does not support 8.0 anymore, so I can't re download.

Many thanks if you can help !
