True Image Home 11 Restore Wizard problems
Acronis True Image Home 11 build 8053
Windows XP Home ver 2002 SP3
External Drive: Seagate FreeAgent Drive (E:) 500GB
Problem 1
I need to restore a file. When I tried to restore it using the restore wizard, it said the file was corrupt.
After looking for help, I found two posts (forum 5766 and 6297) that seemed to indicate that the product would not recognize by external drive on the USB, and the product was old (1-1/2 years) and no longer supported. However, there was a ISOLINUX file that could be sent via PM.
Will this ISOLINUX file allow me to access the backups on the drive?
Should I update to build 8101? Will that help?
If I upgrade to ATI Home 2010, will I then be able to restore using the backups I created with the ATI Home 11 version?
Problem 2
I had expected the restore wizard to ask which backup archieve I wanted to use. When I installed the product, I didn't want to risk having a corrupt backup when I needed it, so I created three image file names and three backup file names.
I would then rotate my backups using the three, with the idea, should I need to restore, I could select the most recent copy. If it didn't work, I could choose the next older copy. I did this editing in
Management Tools / Manage Tasks / Edit Tasks
Is there a way to select the backup copy I want to use?
Problem 3
I am doing backups through a network. If the host computer is down, would I be able to plug the external drive directly into my computer and be able to restore? I had assumed that the path to the files would be selectable at the time of the restore. The wizard did not seem to offer any options.

I have Acronis True Image 11 running on Vista. A windows update crashed the computer. The computer would not start, so I had to boot from the Acronis CD. I had a good backup image which I was able to restore, and the computer was working fine for 1 day. I made and validated a new image because I had installed quite a bit of new stuff.
Then not being sure at that time that the windows update had caused the crash, I updated again. One of the latest updates caused it to crash again. I started another restore, and the USB drive with the backup image failed before it finished.
I bought a new USB drive enclosure and put the drive in and tried it. The Restore Data Wizard does not see the backup drive, so I can not choose an archive file to restore.
I can connect the USB drive to other computers in the house and access the files on it with no problem.
I tried some of the other wizards in the True Image Home program run from the CD, and they can see the USB drive. I even used the Activate Acronis Startup Manager to create an Acronis secure zone on it.
If you can, please advise how I can get the Restore Data Wizard to see the backup drive. Since the Restore Data Wizard can now see the Acronis Secure Zone, if there is a way to move the image file into the secure zone, that might fix the problem.
Thanks for your time.

Lawrence,
Send support a Private Message with your serial number and they can provide you with a link to an ISO file which can be burnt on CD. With the ISO created CD, you should be able to access your files. Your problem is most likely a driver issue with the new enclosure. V11 is several years old and lacking support for many of the new hardware.
